Paul, Islam, Martins and Chau named to the 2010 ISU World Junior
Figure Skating Championships team. Skate Canada will be sending a team to compete in the 2010 ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships in The Hague, Netherlands from March 8 - 14, 2010. The team consists of entries in all four disciplines - men's, women, pair and ice dance for a total of nine entries and 15 skaters. Andrei Rogozine, Alexandra Paul, Mitchell Islam, Olivia Martins and Alvin Chau are five COS skaters that have been named to the 2010 Junior World team. Andrei will be competing in the Men's category and Alexandra Paul, Mitchell Islam, Olivia Martins and Alvin Chau will compete in the Dance category. Congratulations

ice - Canadian Senior Synchronized Skating black ice of Upper Canada SC claimed the Silver medal in the Senior Synchronized Skating category at the 2010 BMO Skate Canada Synchronized Skating Championships in Brampton. black ice scored 76.46 in the short program and 141.84 in the free program which gave them a personal best overall score of 218.30. black ice and Nexxice will represent Canada at the ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships in Colorado Springs, USA on April 9-10, 2010. Ice of Skate Canada - Brampton Chinguacousy SC captured the
Bronze medal in the Junior category at the 2010 BMO Skate Canada
Synchronized Skating Championships in Brampton, Ontario. After
the short program Gold Ice was in third place with a score of
58.74. They delivered a solid performance during the free programs
and received a score of 91.28. Gold Ice finished with an overall

of Leaside Skating Club gave a strong performance to finish
in fourth place in the Novice category at the 2010 BMO Skate Canada
Synchronized Skating Championships in Brampton, Ontario. Synergy
Novice finished with an overall score of 82.99. Gold Ice of Skate Canada - Brampton Chinguacousy finished seventh with an overall score of 73.61 and Iced Energy of Newmarket FSC finished eighth with a score of 72.11. |

Shiver
- Canadian Intermediate Synchronized Skating Bronze Medalists Shiver of East Gwillimbury FSC claimed the Bronze medal in the Intermediate Synchronized Skating category at the 2010 BMO Skate Canada Synchronized Skating Championships in Brampton. Shiver scored 29.84 in the first skate and 65.82 in the second skate which gave them an overall score of 95.66. Congratulations Shiver! Ice-E-Motion of Mississauga FSC finished tenth with an overall score of 82.58.

Ice Junior wins Bronze in Switzerland Gold Ice Junior of Skate Canada - Brampton Chinguacousy wins the Bronze medal at the 2010 Neuchatel Trophy in Neuchatel, Switzerland. They had personal bests in both the short and free programs increasing their score by 7 points in each program. Gold Ice Junior finished with an overall score of 154.88. Congratulations Vanessa and Paul Congratulations to COS' own VANESSA CRONE and PAUL POIRIER on their 14th place finish at the 2010 Winter Olympics Games. The COS family wishes to extend our congratulations to WOS skaters Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir for capturing the gold medal in Ice Dancing at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. Tessa and Scott became only the first Canadians and first North Americans to win an Olympic gold medal in ice dancing. In fact, the only ice dancing medal ever one by Canadians was a bronze medal captured by Tracey Wilson and Rob McCall at the 1988 Olympic Winter Games. Congratulations! |

Congratulations to Skate Canada -00 Central Ontario's own Patrick Chan who finished fifth in the world at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. Finishing behind more experience competitors including a fourth place finish in the long program, Patrick finished only 5.81 points from a bronze medal. Oliveira and Jordan Hockley of Scarboro FSC and West
Toronto FSC won the Gold medal in the Novice Dance event
with a final score of 89.31 on Wednesday January 13,
2010. They were first after the compulsory dance with
a score of 28.26. Scoring a personal best score of 61.05
in the free dance they were able to claim the gold medal.
Placing fourth after the compulsory dance with a score of 25.70, Edrea and Edbert Khong of Toronto Cricket Skating and Curling Club came out fighting to earn the Silver medal. Their free dance received a score of 63.27 which moved them into second place with an overall score of 88.84. Baily Carroll and Peter Gerber of Barrie FSC came in fourth overall with a score of 83.66. |

Moon-Chong of York Region Skating Academy Winter Club
skated away with the Gold medal around her neck last night.
After the short program Kimberly was in first place with
a score of 38.69. She delivered a solid performance on
Wednesday night during the free programs and received
a score of 64.19. Kimberly finished with an overall score
of 102.88. Rachel
Greben of the Toronto Cricket Skating and Curling
Club finished fourth place with an overall score of 90.37
and Nicole Boyle of York Regional Skating Academy
Winter Club finished in 18th place with an overall score
of 70.88.

(January 15, 2010) Eri
Nishimura of Mariposa Winter Club captured the Gold
medal on Thursday night at the 2010 BMO Skate Canada
Junior Nationals in London, Ontario. After the short
program, Eri was in fourth place with a score of 42.82.
Eri came from behind to win the title of the 2010
Canadian Junior Women of Canada. Eri finished the
event with an overall score of 115.55 Andrea Poapst of the Toronto Cricket Skating & Curling Club finished sixth place with a score of 103.10 and Anastasia Loginova of Woodbine Winter Club finished in 14th place with a score of 89.96. In the Junior Men category, Shaquille Davis of Richmond Hill FSC placed fourth with a score of 148.64, Raphael Yacobi-Harris finished in sixth scoring 136.19 and Patrick Myzk placed 15th with a score of 99.69. As
the 2010 BMO Skate Canada Junior Nationals held in
London, Ontario comes to an end, the final medal count
for COS is 4 Gold and 2 Silver. |
