Andrei Rogozine wins gold at the ISU Junior Grand Prix! Andrei Rogozine captures his first gold medal in the ISU Junior Grand Prix circuit on Saturday August 28, 2010 in Courchevel, France. Andrei earned a total score of 184.39 which is a personal best. Andrei landed two triple Axels, including one in combination in Saturday's free program.

Congratulations to black ice!

Congratulations to black ice who placed fourth at the at the ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships in Colorado Springs.
      Canada's top placing team was black ice, the Canadian silver medalists, who finished in fourth place. The team, which skates out of the Upper Canada North York Skating Club, scored 134.64 points in the free skate which gave them 210.90 overall. They had earlier performed a strong short program, which scored 76.26, and won the bronze medal for that portion of the competition. They are coached by Cathy Dalton.

Congratulations to Patrick Chan on his silver medal performance at the 2010 ISU World Championships in Torino. This marks the second consecutive silver medal performance at World's for Patrick who scored 159.42 in the free skate.

Congratulations also to Vanessa Crone and Paul Poirier who finished seventh in the dance competition. This included a personal best in the original dance with a 55.76 score and an a spectacular 91.22 points in the free dance.

Skate Canada will be sending a team to compete in the 2010 ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships in The Hague, Netherlands from March 8 - 14, 2010. The team consists of entries in all four disciplines - men's, women, pair and ice dance for a total of nine entries and 15 skaters. Andrei Rogozine, Alexandra Paul, Mitchell Islam, Olivia Martins and Alvin Chau are five COS skaters that have been named to the 2010 Junior World team. Andrei will be competing in the Men's category and Alexandra Paul, Mitchell Islam, Olivia Martins and Alvin Chau will compete in the Dance category.

black ice of Upper Canada SC claimed the Silver medal in the Senior Synchronized Skating category at the 2010 BMO Skate Canada Synchronized Skating Championships in Brampton. black ice scored 76.46 in the short program and 141.84 in the free program which gave them a personal best overall score of 218.30. black ice and Nexxice will represent Canada at the ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships in Colorado Springs, USA on April 9-10, 2010. Gold Ice of Skate Canada - Brampton Chinguacousy SC captured the Bronze medal in the Junior category at the 2010 BMO Skate Canada Synchronized Skating Championships in Brampton, Ontario. After the short program Gold Ice was in third place with a score of 58.74. They delivered a solid performance during the free programs and received a score of 91.28. Gold Ice finished with an overall score of 150.02.

Shiver scored 29.84 in the first skate and 65.82 in the second skate which gave them an overall score of 95.66. Congratulations Shiver!

Congratulations to COS' own VANESSA CRONE and PAUL POIRIER on their 14th place finish at the 2010 Winter Olympics Games.

VANESSA and PAUL finished with 31.14 points in the Compulsory Dance (15th place), 48.17 points in the Original Dance (17th place) and 85.88 points in the Free Dance (12th place).

Congratulations Tessa and Scott

The COS family wishes to extend our congratulations to WOS skaters Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir for capturing the gold medal in Ice Dancing at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.

Tessa and Scott became only the first Canadians and first North Americans to win an Olympic gold medal in ice dancing. In fact, the only ice dancing medal ever one by Canadians was a bronze medal captured by Tracey Wilson and Rob McCall at the 1988 Olympic Winter Games.

They delivered a solid performance on Sunday night during the free programs and received a score of 132.73. black ice finished with an overall score of 204.88.

COS Skaters Olympic Broadcast Schedule

Congratulations to Patrick Chan, Vanessa Crone and Paul Poirier on being named to the Canadian Olympic Team.

You can watch Vanessa and Paul skate their Olympic compulsory program on Friday, February 19th starting at 7:45pm on TSN. They will skate their original dance on Sunday, February 21st starting at 7:15pm (Rogers Sportsnet) followed by their free dance on Monday, February 22nd at 7:45pm also on Rogers Sportsnet.

You can watch Patrick skate his short program on Tuesday, February 16th beginning at 7:15pm eastern on Rogers Sportsnet. Patrick will then skate his free skate on Friday, February 18th. Coverage on TSN will begin at 8:00pm.

COS dance teams win Gold and Silver in Novice Dance at the 2010 BMO Skate Canada Junior Nationals

(January 14, 2010)

Kelly Oliveira and Jordan Hockley of Scarboro FSC and West Toronto FSC won the Gold medal in the Novice Dance event with a final score of 89.31 on Wednesday January 13, 2010. They were first after the compulsory dance with a score of 28.26. Scoring a personal best score of 61.05 in the free dance they were able to claim the gold medal.

Placing fourth after the compulsory dance with a score of 25.70, Edrea and Edbert Khong of Toronto Cricket Skating and Curling Club came out fighting to earn the Silver medal. Their free dance received a score of 63.27 which moved them into second place with an overall score of 88.84.

Baily Carroll and Peter Gerber of Barrie FSC came in fourth overall with a score of 83.66.

Novice Women Champion of Canada

Kimberly Moon-Chong of York Region Skating Academy Winter Club skated away with the Gold medal around her neck last night. After the short program Kimberly was in first place with a score of 38.69. She delivered a solid performance on Wednesday night during the free programs and received a score of 64.19. Kimberly finished with an overall score of 102.88.

Rachel Greben of the Toronto Cricket Skating and Curling Club finished fourth place with an overall score of 90.37 and Nicole Boyle of York Regional Skating Academy Winter Club finished in 18th place with an overall score of 70.88.

COS Junior Dance teams capture
Gold and Silver medals at Junior Nationals

(January 14, 2010)

Alexandra Paul and Mitchell Islam of Barrie FSC captured the Gold medal earlier today with a very impression overall score of 169.39. Alexandra and Mitchell lead the competition with a score of 34.42 for compulsory, 55.26 for original dance and a free dance score of 79.71.

Olivia Martins and Alvin Chan of Scarboro FSC finished second behind their teammates with an overall score of 145.22. Olivia and Alvin scored 32.23 in the compulsory, 45.93 in the original dance and 67.06 in the free dance which secured the silver medal.

After the completion of the Junior Dance category, the medal count for COS is now 3 Gold and 2 Silver. GO TEAM COS!

Eri Nishimura crowned Junior Women Champion of Canada

(January 15, 2010)

Eri Nishimura of Mariposa Winter Club captured the Gold medal on Thursday night at the 2010 BMO Skate Canada Junior Nationals in London, Ontario. After the short program, Eri was in fourth place with a score of 42.82. Eri came from behind to win the title of the 2010 Canadian Junior Women of Canada. Eri finished the event with an overall score of 115.55

Andrea Poapst of the Toronto Cricket Skating & Curling Club finished sixth place with a score of 103.10 and Anastasia Loginova of Woodbine Winter Club finished in 14th place with a score of 89.96.

In the Junior Men category, Shaquille Davis of Richmond Hill FSC placed fourth with a score of 148.64, Raphael Yacobi-Harris finished in sixth scoring 136.19 and Patrick Myzk placed 15th with a score of 99.69.

As the 2010 BMO Skate Canada Junior Nationals held in London, Ontario comes to an end, the final medal count for COS is 4 Gold and 2 Silver.

COS Dance teams receive the BMO Possibility Award and the Underhill/Martini Scholarship Award

(January 15, 2010)

After the conclusion of the 2010 BMO Skate Canada Junior Nationals, Skate Canada and BMO presented four BMO Possibilities awards and the Underhill/Martini Scholarship award.

Congratulations to Alexandra Paul and Mitchell Islam of the Barrie FSC who are the recipients of the BMO Possibilities Award. This team demonstrates that their possibilities are endless.

The Underhill/Martini Scholarship Award was presented to Baily Carroll and Peter Gerber of the Barrie FSC. Baily and Peter struggled with injuries throughout the competitive season but continued to move forward to finish fourth overall in Novice Dance.

Patrick Chan of the Granite Club claimed his third consecutive title in the Senior Men category at the 2010 BMO Skate Canada Canadian Championships. Patrick scored a 177.88 in the free program with a final score of 268.02. Patrick is looking forward to the Olympics.

Kharis Ralph and Asher Hill received a BMO Possibilities award on Sunday January 17, 2010 at the conclusion of the 2010 BMO Skate Canada Canadian Championships in London. Their original dance was one of the highlights of the Senior Dance event. Kharis and Asher had the audience on their feet with their amazing performance and for this they received the BMO Possibilities award.

Chan, Crone and Poirier named to the 2010 Olympic team

(January 22, 2010)

Skate Canada will be sending a team to compete in the sport of figure skating at the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, BC from February 12-28, 2010. The team consists of two entries in men's, women, pair and ice dance for a total of eight entries and 12 skaters. Patrick Chan, Vanessa Crone and Paul Poirier are three COS skaters that have been named to the 2010 Olympic team. Patrick will be competing in the Men's category and Vanessa and Paul will compete in the Dance category.
