Skate Canada - Central Ontario is one of thirteen Sections affiliated with the Skate Canada National Office. Central Ontario (COS) encompasses a geographical area that is bordered by Lion's Head, Orillia, Ajax, and Oakville and includes 107 clubs, 28,000 members, 650 coaches and officials.

Good Luck Angela!

Good luck to Angela Van Casteren who will represent Skate Canada - Central Ontario at the 2009 Special Olympics World Winter Games. The Games will be held in Boise, Idaho from Febraury 7th-13th.
      Angela will be competing in Level 6 Singles and will be accompanied by coaches Julie Dunlop (Kincardine) and Janet Collins (Wasaga Beach).

Good Luck Angela. Have the skate of your life!



"They've Got the World on a String …"

Congratulations to the Skate Canada - Central Ontario skaters who have qualified for the 2009 World Championships and the 2009 Junior World Championships.

Congratulations to reigning Canadian Senior Men champion Patrick Chan and Canadian silver medalists Vanessa Crone and Paul Poirier (senior dance) who will represent Team COS at the World Championships to be held in Los Angeles on March 2nd-29th.

Congratulations also to reigning Canadian Junior Men champion Andrei Rogozine as well as the dance team of Kharis Ralph and Asher Hill and the Canadian bronze medalist pair team of Maddison Bird and Raymond Schultz who will represent Team COS as the World Junior Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria on February 23rd-March 1st.

Judge and Evaluator! Judging and evaluating is a great way for you to contribute to the sport of figure skating, to meet many people with similar interests and to interact with skaters and provide them with useful and valuable feedback.
      If you are over 16 years of age, have completed a Senior Bronze test in one discipline or a Junior Bronze test in two disciplines, then Skate Canada - Central Ontario
is looking for you!

Could You Use a New Vehicle?

A 2009 Ford Escape XLT is the grand prize of the 2009 Ontario Promotional Contest and you could be the lucky winner.
   
The Ontario Promotional Contest is a province-wide fundraiser where by a $2 donation entitles you to a ticket to win a 2009 Ford Escape XLT or one of the other outstanding prizes which include a 50-inch Panasonic plasma flat screen television including a DVD entertainment package, a $3,500 travel certificate, one of five laptop computers complete with travel bags and one of five Registered Education Savings Plans.
    Tickets are available from participating COS clubs or at the COS office. The office is open Monday through Friday, 9am to 4:30pm with the prize draws to be conducted at the Trillium STARSkate Championships in March.
           
Remember, you can't win if you don't have a ticket!
